When I said ‘come on by and throw a brick through our window’ I didn’t mean that literally.

I understand that it was only a matter of days after The Mission Bicycle Company opened their store front in San Francisco's Mission district that someone welcomed them into the neighborhood by presenting them with a brick. Now seeing as it was after hours, and assuming the individual in question couldn't fit the brick through their mail slot, they did what comes naturally when one finds themselves in a gift giving frenzy and made quick work of their window.
Now say what you will about their business plan, or that they are the new kids on the block (man, that kinda shit would never fly when I started riding fixies 'back in the day' (i.e. one to four years ago) or that they are somehow exploiting the 'scene' (if Don Fisher of The Gap fame started marketing fixed gear bicycles, then I would happily direct you to the pile of bricks in Danzig's front yard)

but the fact of the matter is, these are people with a savvy business plan who have a soft spot for fixed gear bikes. Don't like it? Don't buy one, but from where I stand exacting some kind of low rent street justice is just about as gutless as you can get.

Absolutely.  Just because one feel’s that they are more ‘hardcore,’ ‘street,’ ‘real,’ or whatever tag appropriately describes these disgruntled scum-suckers, does not lend excuse for such behavior.  At one point and time, we are all new at trying something that we fall in love with, regardless of the reasons, and we all want to be good at what we love, i.e., opening a fixed shop.  Good luck to Mission Bicycles.

By the way, is that really Danzig’s house?  Just asking…

Not sure how I missed that jewel of a post.  Wow, I love Danzig, or rather, my 15 year old perception of Danzig, but what a douche he truly is.

Are we sure this is the work of some kind of “fixie scenesters”?  Maybe someone was just pissed about he ongoing gentrification in the area.  Or maybe Danzig conjured a demon…

I think it’s pretty f’n awesome that the “Fixed Gear Culture” is calling bullshit on itself when the entire thing was predicated on superficial bullshit to begin with.  It’s so… ironic.

How self-important of you to assume that it must have been someone irked by “Fixed-Gear Culture”, when it was probably just some drunken street thug.
