I guess a good place to start is with something you know. I have been riding Level hubs for a couple of years now and can't say enough about them. They're big and bright, all spokes are the same size front and rear, and they don't have any cog threads! All of you southpaws who have been trying to find a good way to go LHD without fucking up your threads now have a brand new friend. Scott has been having these hubs made in the same shop on Cape Cod from the start. Sealed bearings, seemingly 3 foot long rear hub bolts, a front hub that can be converted from QR to bolt on, these are made to be ridden on the street and they certainly live up to their hype.
The rear hub has three 'shoulders' and three spaces machined into the hub, the specially made cog has three 'shoulders' and three holes in it. Put them together and they fit like a glove (seeing that they're machined specifically for each other). The three bolts simply hold the cog flush to the hub.
The cog itself is machined to allow two different chain lines simply by flipping it around to one side or the other. Fucking sweet.
They are machined out of single pieces of aluminum and are, in a word, bombproof. If you find yourself looking for a hubset that will travel with you, from bike, to bike, to bike, to bike, this is the set for you. Drop by Level's site,
Level Components, and give them a looksee and some orders.
Now go Left Hand Drive, all the cool kids are doing it.
