I’ll never shave anything below my neck

Some friends and I were discussing why people shave their legs when they become "serious" bike riders. They try to legitimize it by saying that it makes road rash easier to clean...

...or that it's easier to apply sun block and get a massage. I call BS on all of that. Somewhere, some roadies felt like they were more aero when they shaved their legs. The only historical reference I've heard of or found was in the documentary "A Sunday in Hell" when the commentator mentions the riders shaving their legs because it was easier to massage their leg muscles.

So what gives? Why do you do it? Personally, I'll never shave anything below my neck.

I started years ago mainly becuase it was the “cool” thing to do if you were a cyclist, worked in a bike shop and raced now and then
Now I am so used to it I can’t not do it… and it has spread to my arms..
It does make mud clean off after a MTB or Cross race easier, and applying sun screen in the summer a snap
Besides I race every so often and theres nothing fugler than hairy legs in spandex shorts
