The kid was in the wrong, but he made a mistake. kids (and adults) do.
this was a skid comp - no matter what the brake situation on that dirty hipster’s bike, the kid would have been taken down.
cool part was the cyclist instantly got up and tried to make sure the kid was ok, and then moved his bike so the kid wouldn’t fall on it and get more hurt if he wanted to sit down.
hope they were both ok.

OMG that Kid is a puss. Man we are raising a generation of complete pussy’s. I used to play football with guys that were 15-25 that were twice the size of the cyclist. I was no older than that kid, and took hits Far worse than that, I never grabbed my face and cried about it, if i did, i wouldn’t have been able to play.

Yeah, I ride a fixed gear, yeah, I don’t have brakes, and I’m pretty sure I look like what everyone’s definition of cool looks like (whatever that is), and yeah, that kid needed a wake up call to pay some fucking up front attention. Let that be a lesson to you.

The kid who got hit is still in the wrong. We’re all taught to pay attention when CROSSING THE STREET.
Any street. Blocked off for a “SPECIALIZED BIKE COMPETITION” or not.
Since everyone feels so compelled to put a label on things here. That’s what it is. It’s a Skid COMPETITION. Just like there are Drifting competitions for cars, bar stool races, and fucking hurdling. If there was a hurdles race going on in the middle of my street outside, I’d have the common sense to pay attention, and perhaps choose a better time/spot/etc to cross the street. That’s why it’s frowned upon to run across a soccer field in the middle of a match, same for any competitive event, you’re not in the game, why are you there? This competition just so happens to take place on a street.
I’ll have you know that the common American fat kid gets wailed on far worse on a playground at 3:15.
There’s some really offensive posts on here. Rather than going through this entry by entry and calling foul on the @ssholes; I’m just going to suggest that some of you need to really take a strong look at your mental internals for writing stuff like this.
Just because it’s the internet and you can be all anonymous and trash talk a kid who wound up being cold cocked by a bike and then smacking his head on the street doesn’t make you any less vile and worthy of scorn.

It is possible to put brakes on a fixed gear bike… it’s just not stylish to install them, or wear a helmet for that matter!
